Buddhism

Week 16
1. This is a difficult question to summarize. Aside from the few possible reasons given in this lesson, I can only think that maybe Buddha knew of some personal reasons why she might be a drain on the Sangha. Maybe he also felt that she would use her relationship to him to gain favor or power? It's hard to know for sure.
2. I personally feel that any Sangha would benefit from the inclusion of women as nuns or laypersons. This is because women have unique viewpoints and insights that sometimes men overlook. Yes, this does mean greater temptations for lust, but that also means great opportunities to overcome lust and learn and grow together.
3. The Buddha was an enlightened person. I don't know if he would be anymore enlightened today. Therefore, aside from guarding against the use of technology to influence lust, he may not have much more to add.
